The Asante Foundation Awards and Festival is a celebration of the pinnacles of the African descendant's creativity. It was created of the desire to celebrate the contributions that many local New Orleans artists have made with little to no recognition, by acknowledging, giving thanks (Asante) and presenting them with awards.
We are supported by governmental and business leaders. Our mission is to promote pride in the City of
New Orleans by recognizing and esteeming the accomplishments of our city’s finest artists and career achievers. We proudly look upon those persons; groups and organizations that made contributions and cultivate these art forms. We also recognize the contributions that the African American culture brings to the global community in many other academic disciplines. Much of the world dances to New Orleans’ indigenous music, feast on our recipes, and relish in our art and culture. The Asante Foundation Awards and Festival seeks to 'center stage' those who make us smile when encircled with their works!
On this day of Thanks and Salute to our culture, Asante Foundation Awards Festival will showcase poets, musicians, artist and local pioneers' passion for the fest, engagement with fans, commitment to community and respect for the history of our culture. The 2011 Festival will mark the fourth time that Asante Foundation Awards Festival will be held in New Orleans
Our mission is to celebrate the positive contributions of our community, individuals and cultures through festivals and awards recognition; including promotion, education, preservation and encouragement for continued growth of Jazz, Art, Movies, Music, and Spokenword as well as to recognize and honor those who make positive contributions in our community outside of the arts.
